Abstract
This program explores the oral health concerns most commonly encountered in the aging population and provides practical, patient-centered strategies to improve comfort, function, and long-term oral health. Participants will gain a better understanding of the biological changes associated with aging, recognize common risk factors that compromise oral health, and learn clinical approaches that help older adults maintain healthy, comfortable, and functional dentitions throughout their lives.

Learning Objectives:
- Identify the physiologic changes, systemic conditions, and medications that contribute to xerostomia, dentin hypersensitivity, root caries, and periodontal challenges in older adults.
- Explain evidence-based preventive and therapeutic strategies for managing the most common oral health concerns affecting the aging population while promoting long-term oral health and patient comfort.
- ​Develop practical, patient-centered recommendations that improve oral function, nutrition, comfort, and quality of life through individualized home care and preventive treatment plans.
Presenter Qualifications:
Dr. Flucke is in private practice in Lee’s Summit, Missouri where he spends two days per week in direct patient care. He also served as Chief Dental Editor as well as Technology Editor for Dental Products Report magazine for over 25 years where he was responsible for writing, editing, and producing video “Test Drives” of products featured in his “Technology Evangelist’ columns.
